Rüştü Onur Eroğlu was born in Ankara in 1962. Working across photography, video art and cinematography, Eroğlu has made exhibitions, experimental short films, documentaries and video installations since the 1980s.
After graduating from the Cinema-TV department of Anadolu University, Eroğlu completed an MA in Cinema-Television and a proficiency in art (doctorate) at Marmara University. Eroğlu founded the visual arts and visual communication design departments at Bahçeşehir University and Eastern Mediterranean University, and chaired departments at İstanbul Bilgi, Okan, Girne American and FMV Işık universities. Eroğlu is currently a full-time member of the Cinema and Television faculty at Işık University's Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture, working on film production and directing, documentary and political cinema.
In the 1990s Eroğlu took part in Istanbul's video-art scene and showed work in German–Turkish collaborations such as Xample in Istanbul and Darmstadt. In 2025 the video installation INSULA was shown at the 1st Lefkoşa Biennial.
